Another interesting Kisckstarter starting TODAY!! ¡Otro Kickstarter interesante que empieza hoy!

[The interview in English is after the interview in Spanish]

Miniatura pintada Por Elias Alonso (75mm)

Juegos:

Agrícola - Uwe Rosenberg
Krynea - Smiling Goblin
Through the Ages - Vlaada Chvátil

Well, turns out I was watching the Internet last week and found a project called Fallen Frontiers, they are about to launch a KS last friday, and I contacted them for an interview at the same time it turned out that they had to delay the release of the KS. So here we are a week later with the KS campaign going...

I sent the questions, and I started to find who they are. The truth is that they have some models with a nice quality, but not only that, they have nicely painted miniatures. You will discover why, but they just say they are willing to be surprised. Well, let's go to the full interview with the boys.

  • First, who are the creators of Fallen Frontiers? What is the name the enterprise that produces the game? Where are you from?
Scale 75 is a 75 mm miniatures Spanish brand that assemble and paint miniatures, which is directed by Roberto Sanchez. Almost two years ago Scale 75 decided to expand their horizons and think about the market for miniature games. To this end, Scale 75 hired Elias Alonso to create among other things Fallen Frontiers. Fallen frontiers will be developed by Scale Games which is an English subsidiary of Scale 75 whose staff are almost all Spanish guys.
  • How long have you been developing the game Fallen Frontiers?  How is it that you began to develop the game?

The game began to develop a year and a half ago and, as mentioned above, came in a way to introduce Scale 75 in the market for wargames miniatures. At first Fallen Frontiers was only Elias Alonso but with time and when things started to take shape we have formed the team as you migh find it now.

  • Tell us about the context of the game, is  it a dystopian future? There are Aliens? how many factions do you have in mind?

Nice setting...

We do not think it is a essentially dystopian future, the outlook for Fallen Frontiers has enough current items brought into the context of SciFi. The main element of conflict is the uptake of a vital resource in a universe where instant communication is lost between the planets. The ships and communications take months, even years to get from one destination to another, and if you're not prepared, do not expect anyone will answer your calls for help.

B'sN: Its like it is today, if we could put people in Mars if they would need help, it will take many weeks to reach them...
  • From what you told me in an email, the game system has an interesting feature : the cards, tell us about the system and cards. It is a skirmish game ? How many models per side per game (in general) are you thinking for the game?

The cards are, forgive the comparison, the ace in the sleeve of each player. Normally when you play a wargame and you see your opponent 's army you know in the 90% of the cases the type of game that will develop. In this case though the adversary see your units and your heroes, he will still have the unknown of what kind of cards you put in your deck and how they will affect the performance of your army. The cards affect units, other cards affects heroes or equipment both oneself as to the contrary. Not all races play equal cards , there will be factions based its strategy in the figures on the board and others that gain boosting at critical times some units a priori not seem very strong but thanks to his proficiency in the use of the deck always seem to have the necessary support.
The idea is to start playing
with the 19 figures per side that brings the box, which is more than enough but clearly it is possible to scale the game and play with more miniatures.

B's N: In truth I would like to read the whole rules to see how this is implemented, but it seams a good idea...

  • In wich other games or other works have you been inspired to create this game?

It is difficult , we have not based on anything in particular and I think we have taken into account everything we know. Mostly I think our inspiration has been the video games world, we believe that the possibilities in video games today are the key to give a successful wargame.
  • Are you wargames players? of which ones?
I think most of us have played Warhammer or Confrontation, we have also played Flames of War. Right now I do not remember another wargame but I assure you that we have many armies from the mentioned games.

  • Who does sculpt the miniatures ? Are they all 3-D created?

Most of our miniatures are modeled in 3D now by our chief modeller Alfonso Prieto, and we have help from David Roldán in the modeling of some factions.
  • About the paintings, who does paint the miniatures? I have seen some really nicely painted miniatures.

The painting so far has been done by Borja García from Figure
Corner and Juan Carlos (CuttyFlam) but his work still have not shown. The miniatures shown in the web are from Elías Alonso and Rafael García (Volomir).

B's N: I know Volomir from his blog, he paints really good. And looking the Borja García works, I could only think that you have gathered nice painters to your staff.

  • You are about to launch a Kickstarter, When? With what purpose are you going to do it? What can the players get from this KS?

The idea is to launch this week of May 26. The reason? because there are more than 120 miniatures and to produce that much we are needing help because the investment is huge. I think the price is very good on kickstarter and if all goes well, patrons can take a bunch of miniature gifts.

BsN: The kickstarter has been launched a few hours ago, check here
  • Where can we find more information about the game? What forms of contact do you have?

Currently Facebook until we launch the Kickstarter and will be available at that time also the Fallen Frontiers website where there will be a lot more information about the game.
